With Axis forces defeated in Tunisia the Allies started to clear the battlefield,
investigating abandoned Tigers.

This Tiger is completely burnt out and was probably destroyed by its crew. A blast appears to have lifted the engine deck and damaged the rear of the turret stowage bin, & the rubber has burned off all the road wheels.
A private snapshot of a Tiger from 501st Battalion:- abandoned south of Kournine it is examined by two British officers.

Another view of the same tank receiving an even closer examination. There is evidence of substantial penetration on the hull side but up to eight 'kill' rings painted on the barrel. This picture also gives a reasonable view of the early style of front mudguards.
