In the summer of 1943 British forces in Tunisia conducted a series of firing trials against a turretless Tiger hull. Weapons tested included the 6 pounder, 17 pounder and American 75mm, the Sherman gun.
Results, generally, were disappointing. Most of the rounds, including the new 6-pdr Armour Piercing Capped round failed to penetrate although they did a considerable amount of damage.
