By mid October 1991 the task of stripping down the suspension had commenced. Here the outer set of road wheels had been removed, revealing the inner hubs. Fortunately the rust was superficial.

Meanwhile the tracks, having been removed, had been split to create four lengths and then rolled up to save space.

Finally, all the road wheels having been removed and identified, the torsion bars were withdrawn and stowed on a purpose-built rack for cleaning and examination.
